Three McLaren racing cars set to go under the hammer with RM Sotheby's this December
RM Sotheby’s and McLaren Racing have joined forces to offer three McLaren competition cars in Abu Dhabi on 5 December during the final Formula 1 race of the season, at a yet-to-be-announced RM Sotheby’s auction.

MONTEREY, CA.- McLaren Racing and RM Sotheby’s have teamed up to make auction history, offering a trio of future competition cars representing the iconic team’s racing portfolio. Announced during RM Sotheby’s flagship sale in Monterey, California, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown was in attendance to mark the occasion.

Earlier this year, McLaren Racing announced its return to endurance racing, underscoring its ambition to reclaim the prestigious motorsport Triple Crown — a feat no other team has ever achieved.

For the first time ever, the public will be given the opportunity to purchase three competition chassis from upcoming seasons before they are fully unveiled or raced, including a 2026 McLaren Formula 1 Team car, a 2027 McLaren United AS racer from the World Endurance Championship, and a 2026 Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team Indianapolis 500 race-driven INDYCAR from the US-based NTT INDYCAR SERIES. The cars will go under the hammer in Abu Dhabi on 5 December during the final Formula 1 race of the season at a yet-to-be-announced RM Sotheby’s auction.

In a world first, bidders will have the chance to acquire a 2026 McLaren Formula 1 Team car months before the new challenger is even unveiled to the public. The successful bidder will become the proud owner of a chassis campaigned by one of the team’s F1 drivers, Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri, during the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season, taking delivery of their purchase in 2028.

In addition, a 2025 show car will be offered on lease until the arrival of the car, and the buyer will be invited to visit the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking. Buyers will also have incredible behind-the-scenes access with McLaren Racing and the associated events as part of the purchase of the race cars.

Also on offer is McLaren’s first LMDh hypercar from its debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship season, giving bidders the vanishingly rare opportunity of acquiring a top-flight 24 Hours of Le Mans racer.

Rounding out the trio of spectacular competition cars is an Arrow McLaren INDYCAR, driven by Pato O’Ward in the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 in May 2026. Pato O’Ward is a fan-favorite and one of the top contenders in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. He has a top-five position solidified in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Championship, currently sitting second among the stable of drivers.

The chance to acquire future racing chassis at public auction is completely unprecedented and represents an unmissable opportunity. These three special lots are only made more enticing by the comprehensive package of perks and privileged access that accompany them, fast-tracking buyers not only for upcoming special edition road car releases but also future Formula 1 chassis purchase options, while offering the unique opportunity to place yourself at the heart of McLaren Racing’s on-track endeavours.
