NEW YORK.-Abstract artist Henry Charles Pearson, 92, died. He graduated in 1935 from UNC-Chapel Hill and studied a master in fine arts at Yale. He started creating theater sets in Charleston, S.C. After serving in the Army and the Air Force during World War II he studied art with Reginald Marsh. Among the museums which have his works in their collection are: Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., Art Museum of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Museum of Art. Henry Pearson is considered to be one of the world’s most important and influential artists in the history of modernism.
