HONOLULU.- The Hawaii State Art Museum presents the exhibit Precious Resources: The Land & The Sea through July 7, 2007. Precious Resources: The Land & The Sea features over 90 works of art inspired by Hawai`i`s natural environment. The artwork shows the importance of the land and sea which provide life-giving sustenance, natural beauty, and cultural traditions. Seven sub-themes - voyaging, ahupua`a, cultural traditions and explorations, woodwork, forest, learning to see again, and water and sea - offer insight into various facets of Hawai`i`s natural environment.
Featured artists are Allyn Bromley, Robert Hamada, Kathleen Kam, Herb Kane, Wayne Levin, Hiroki Morinoue, Louis Pohl, Franco Salmoiraghi, and John Wisnowsky. Discover the Exploration Station - a new interactive gallery that allows visitors to experience art via hands-on displays that encourage you to touch, see, listen, play, and imagine!
