Tailored for Speed proves to be a spectacular success, with a 100% sell through and grossing a remarkable CHF 70 million
The Collection, which comprised 42 rare and highly significant supercars and track cars, sold to a packed auction room at Zurich’s Dolder Grand Hotel, with the majority of cars exceeding their high estimate.

ZURICH.- Generating unprecedented pre-sale interest from around the world, The Tailored for Speed Collection was one of the most eagerly anticipated single-owner collections to ever be offered in Europe. And it didn’t disappoint when the cars went under the hammer in Zurich on 11 October, with the collection smashing its pre-sale high estimate, grossing CHF 69,672,12. The packed auction room witnessed feverish bidding with many also participating on the telephones and via the internet. When the hammer fell on the final lot, four cars had exceeded CHF 5 million, with the top ten cars all exceeding CHF 2,000,000.

The top seller on the night was the beautiful 2024 Ferrari Daytona SP3. One of just 600 examples made, the car is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever created. The LaFerrari-based, naturally aspirated V-12 hypercar brought CHF 5,348,750, smashing its pre-sale high estimate. Also far exceeding its upper estimate, was the 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, offered in the rare colour combination of Bianco Italia metallic paint over Nero leather with Giallo accents. This one-owner car achieved an outstanding CHF 5,292,500

The Tailored for Speed Collection was remarkable for featuring all three of Ferrari’s Corse Clienti XX Programme track machines. Of this ‘XX Full Set’, it was the 2016 Ferrari FXX K Evoluzione which achieved the highest price, selling for CHF 5,236,250, again exceeding its high estimate. Delivered new to The Tailored for Speed Collection and subsequently upgraded by Ferrari to Evoluzione specifications, it was presented in spectacular two-tone Blu Corsa Opaco with Nero Stellato Opaco accents. Unsurprisingly, both of the other remarkable XX cars sold incredibly well, with the 2008 Ferrari FXX Evo achieving CHF 4,055,000 and the 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evo bringing CHF 2,761,250. All three of the XX cars established new auction records for each model.

Many eyes were on the 1998 Ferrari 333 SP , one of Ferrari’s most important sports racing cars of the past 50 years. The car offered is one of the most important 333 SPs in existence, being the overall winner of the 1999 Sports Racing World Cup rounds at Barcelona and Monza, as well as securing four further podiums, which combined to help JMB Giesse Racing claim the 1999 SR1 Teams’ title. This important car achieved a selling price of CHF 5,208,125, establishing a new auction world record for the model.

Augustin Sabatié-Garat, Director of Sales, RM Sotheby’s, said: “We are privileged to have been entrusted to sell this unbelievable collection. A single owner collection of this type rarely comes to market, and no collection of this type and quality has ever been offered for sale in Europe. I believe the results speak for themselves, and it further establishes RM Sotheby’s as the undisputed specialist and market leader in offering the world’s most important collections.”
