AMSTERDAM.- The Rijksmuseum and the Municipality of Eindhoven are joining forces to build a branch of the Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven where future visitors will be able to admire artworks from the world-famous Rijksmuseum collection. Founding partner ASML intends to contribute significantly in the coming years to creating a leading cultural facility for the region.

Eindhoven is a city of makers and creators, a place where technological innovation and design take centre stage. The Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven will be a dynamic space that presents exhibitions from new perspectives, with a focus on creativity and craftsmanship. The museum itself will be situated in a green space on the banks of the Dommel River close to the main station.

"The Rijksmuseum belongs to everyone and is open to all. It holds a world famous collection of more than one million objects and is always seeking new ways to share the collection with people across the Netherlands. The Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven represents an important step in making the collection even more accessible in the south of the country. The Rijksmuseum has long-standing ties with Eindhoven: Philips, served as a Rijksmuseum Founder for 25 years, alongside our main sponsors KPN, ING and the VriendenLoterij. I look forward to welcoming ASML as a partner for Eindhoven." -- Taco Dibbits – General Director Rijksmuseum

"This is an incredible opportunity, and we are seizing it with both hands to make it a reality as quickly as possible – together with the Rijksmuseum, ASMLand other, future partners. The Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven will be a valuable addition to the cultural landscape of Brabant and beyond, with art and history serving as a unifying force in our rapidly growing Brainport region. This museum is set to become a place where everyone can enjoy a unique blend of history and creativity." -- Jeroen Dijsselbloem – Mayor of Eindhoven

"As an international company rooted in the Netherlands, ASML and its employees are proud to be associated with the Rijksmuseum and excited to support them in this initiative, together with the municipality of Eindhoven. Attracting this world-famous institution to the region will not only allow more people to experience and enjoy the museum’s artistic and cultural treasures, but will also strengthen Brainport Eindhoven as a cultural destination and a great place to live and work." -- Christophe Fouquet – CEO ASML

Vibrant hub

The museum will be a vibrant, welcoming space – a dynamic meeting place with the unmistakable character of the Rijksmuseum. The new building will cover more than 3,500 square meters, with detailed plans to be developed over the coming year. Our ambition is to open the Rijksmuseum in Eindhoven in six to eight years.

Park

The new museum will be located along the Dommel River, in a new park in the heart of the city. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from Eindhoven Central Station, will make it easily accessible for local residents as well as visitors from elsewhere in the Netherlands and abroad.

800 years of art and history

In its role as the national museum of art and history, the Rijksmuseum tells the story of 800 years of the Netherlands, and places it in an international context. The museum is world famous for its masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, Rachel Ruys and many others. The more than one million objects in the Rijksmuseum collection include paintings, sculptures, furniture, glass and porcelain, fashion and textiles, photographs and drawings, and Asian art. The new museum in Eindhoven will allow the Rijksmuseum to increase the visibility of its collection and make art accessible to a wider audience.
