DUBLIN, IRELAND.- The National Gallery of Ireland presents A time and a Place - Two Centuries of Irish Social Life, on view through January 28, 2007 and sponsored by Key Capital Private and Deutsche Bank. This major exhibition devoted to Irish social life spanning the past two centuries has received critical acclaim since its opening last October in the Millennium Wing. It includes over 80 paintings and watercolours by some of Ireland's most accomplished figurative painters of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and provides an informative insight into the social activities of Irish society, covering themes such as sport, music, dance, theatre and entertainment, as well as religious and civic celebrations. An accompanying illustrated catalogue, edited by Dr Brendan Rooney, is available from the Gallery Shop (€29.95 pb).
