GLEN COVE, NY.- As part of their upcoming January 10th at 10am New Year’s Multi-Estates auction, along with other prominent estates represented in this auction, Roland Auctions NY will present an exclusive selection of items from the Long Island collection of Byam K. Stevens Jr. and Priscilla L. Stevens. Previews will be held on Thursday, January 8th & Friday, January 9th, 10am – 6pm.

This illustrious Long Island family, some of whom founded the Sons of the Revolution, lived in their legendary estate Kirby Hill for decades and were actually part of the gilded age in America. Byam K. Stevens Jr. passed away in 2025 at 94, while his wife of 67 years, Priscilla, who served on the board of the American Ballet Theatre for decades, passed away herself in 2018.

Byam had a long career in finance, following in the footsteps of most members of his family, and while living in Kirby Hill he also served as Mayor of Muttontown, NY. His uncle, Joseph Sampson Stevens, built Kirby Hill, designed by Warren & Wetmore c. 1900 in Muttontown and left it to his nephew when he died. He was also a corporal in Teddy Roosevelt.'s 'Rough Riders' and related to Albert Gallatin, Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents Jefferson and Madison.

Throughout this storied family’s history they were also avid collectors of art and antiques. The pieces being offered at Roland Auctions include family portraits, antique porcelain, silver, furniture and more. Notable lots are an Antique Tabriz / Saber palatial rug in shades of blue, beige, and red, with fringe ends. Having multiple borders, over all floral design [168" W x 284" L] (16.5' x 23.6'). Estate of Priscilla and Byam K Stevens Jr. Possibly signed (Iran Ghom Kalhor). Estimate $3,000-$5,000, a Directoire Marble Top Fruitwood Commode, French, 19th century, with a carved fruitwood lower with three brass mounted drawers, and carved and tapered legs. Estate of Priscilla and Byam K Stevens Jr. Estimate $400-$600 and a Queen Anne Mahogany Trick Track Table, mid 19th century, the top is removable with leather pad on one side and revealing a trick track board to the interior. Highlights in Decorative Arts include a Louis Joseph Lederle (American, 1881-1949) Gothic Stained Glass Window, , circa 1920, with inset glass pediment to upper, and a central hand-painted portrait of a woman flanked by two columns, with a glass border, signed to lower of portrait panel, set in a backlit frame. Estimate $5,000-$7,000, a Rococo Ornately Carved Marble Fireplace Mantle, Rococo style late 19th, early 20th century Ornate Fireplace Mantle with female caryatid figures including a floral cherub design surround. Estimate $3,500-$4,500, a Beaux Arts and Crafts Stained Glass Window, American circa 1900, with a blue glass ground and central rose-filled urn with butterfly detail, in a later backlit case. Estimate $4,000-$6,000 and a Tiffany Studios early favrile glass vase, circa 1900, of bowl form, the collar with iridescent gold accented with oranges, peach, and subtly changing into greens and blue, mark to base "Louis C Tiffany W2819" and with remnants of a paper label. [5" H x 6" Diameter].. Estate of Lawrence Zelner of New York City. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.

Another of the several stained glass windows being presented is a Beaux Arts and Crafts stained glass window, American circa 1900, with a pink glass border and central floral bleeding heart floral motif and foliate heart forms to lower panel, set in a later backlit frame. Estimate $3,000-$5,000, while a Tommi Parzinger (German, 1903-1981) Inlaid Two-Tier Coffee Table, inlaid wood Chinoiserie inspired coffee table, mid-20th century, with a lower tier, inlaid top and legs, unmarked, is Estimated at $1,500-$2,000.

In the silver arena they are featuring a Black, Starr & Frost Sterling Tea & Coffee Service, 6, sterling silver six piece tea and coffee service, comprising hot water kettle with stand, coffee pot, teapot, creamer, covered sugar and waste bowl, American 1874-1908, monogrammed, marks to bases "Black, Starr & Frost 18331 and eagle" , the stand marked sterling and the burner marked Gorham P (1883). Estimate $3,500-$4,500, a Dominick & Haff Sterling Silver Pitcher, Dominick & Haff sterling silver floral, fruit and bird repousse pitcher, New York, 1868 - 1888, Estimate $650-$850 and a Pair of George III Silver Candlesticks, London, 1768, by Ebenezer Coker (probably), designed as stylized doric columns on stepped bases with gadrooned border, Property of a Port Chester, New York Estate. Estimate $600-$800.
