OXNARD, CA.- Plaza Art Gallery presents Wayne Alaniz Healy, January 31 Sunday, April 1, 2007. Plaza Art Gallery is pleased to announce its first exhibition of the 2007 season featuring Wayne Alaniz Healy, painter, sculptor and muralist. Healy was born and raised in East Los Angeles and became involved in the politically-charged Chicano mural movement in the early seventies. Since 1975 Wayne and his partner David Botello founded East Los Streetscrapers, a public arts factory that has become a major force in public art installations.
Plaza Art Gallery exhibition will feature Healys vibrant colors of everyday life scenes in acrylic on canvas, seriographs and mono-silkscreens. The artist will be present for the opening reception on February 1 and will return on March 1 to deliver a talk on his life and work as an artist.
Patrick Ela, Art consultant and former Museum Director is curator of the presentation.
Admission and parking are free. The exhibit runs through April 1, 2007. Hours at the gallery are Wednesday through Sunday, noon 5 p.m,
The Plaza Art Gallery presents Contemporary Fine Art featuring Latino artists. The gallery is situated across the street from historic Plaza Park and next to the Carnegie Art Museum in Downtown Oxnard.
