LOUISVILLE, KY.- The Speed Art Museum brings to Louisville images that changed the way we view the world. With over 200 iconic works drawn from the world-renowned collections of the George Eastman House, this exhibition explores photography from 1839 daguerreotype to September 11, 2001. On display from June 19 through September 16, 2007, the exhibition will also include restored and archived film clips from before 1923.
Visitors will see some of this countrys most important images, including Matthew Bradys photographs of Abraham Lincoln, Robert Capas D-Day, Omaha Beach and Dorthea Langes Migrant Mother. The exhibition also includes some of the most visually stunning images ever captured on film by prominent photographers Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Margaret Bourke-White, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Weston and many others.
The film component of the exhibition includes film clips, celebrity portraits, motion picture stills, lobby cards and movie posters.
