SAN DIEGO, CA.- The Lyceum Theatre Gallery will present The Art Of Photography Show 2007, an international exhibition of photographic art at the elegant Lyceum Theatre Gallery, on view April 14 - May 28, 2007. This presentation of world class photography is truly exquisite. A total of 9867 photographic entries were submitted by artists from 37 countries around the world for this juried competition. The judge for this exhibit is Tim Wride, who is the Head of the Department of Photography at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He is also the Executive Director of the No Strings Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides significant grants to photographic artists. Mr. Wride selected 103 images -- the best of the best!
The Opening Reception Gala on April 14th will be a spectacular free event. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be served by Barry Layne of Coast Catering, wine will be provided by Kendall-Jackson, live music will be performed by Tom Griesgraber playing the Chapman Stick, and there will be an awards ceremony in which $5,000 in cash awards will be given to the top artists chosen by Mr. Wride. Over 1000 people will be in attendance at the Opening Reception Gala, including most of the exhibiting artists, coming from all over the globe.
All attendees of the Opening Reception Gala will receive a free copy of the Show Catalog. This superb 76 page book will showcase all of the exhibited images, has artists statements about each piece, and also includes a very illuminating "Forward" from Mr. Wride.
This is the third year of this annual photographic exhibition. Approximately 20,000 people are expected to view the Show during the six-week run at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery. One of our key aims is to sell the work which is exhibited at The Art Of Photography Show. Our great love of this art form prompts us to 'pull out all of the stops' in order to showcase a truly excellent presentation of photographic art, to elevate and promote this art form, and to provide substantial benefits to the exhibiting artists.
The timing of The Art of Photography Show 2007 is perfectly in-sync with three other major photographic exhibits happening concurrently in San Diego: the Annie Leibovitz exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art, the Hector Zamora exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (downtown), and the Brian Ulrich exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (La Jolla). And of course, the Museum Of Photographic Arts has a stellar line-up of three exhibits right now. San Diego truly is a global center for photographic art.
The Lyceum Theatre Gallery is open to the public seven days a week. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on the weekends.
