DALLAS, TX.- Heritage Auctions has named longtime animation art specialist Scott Dicken Consignment Director of Animation & Anime Art. Based in Heritages Beverly Hills office, Dicken brings more than 34 years of industry experience to the worlds leading auction house for animation art.
Dicken joins Heritage after more than three decades with Chuck Jones Galleries, where he rose from Art Sales Consultant to Vice President of Sales. During his tenure, Dicken helped expand the gallery business, develop new locations and cultivate lasting relationships with collectors, artists and animation-industry professionals across the country.
Scott has been a respected presence in the animation art community for decades, and weve known and worked with him for years, says Jim Lentz, Heritage Auctions Vice President and Director of Animation & Anime Art. He understands this material, he understands collectors, and, most importantly, he has earned their trust. His knowledge and relationships will be tremendous assets as we continue to grow both our Animation and Anime categories.
At Chuck Jones Galleries, Dicken directed sales strategy and operations across multiple locations while developing collector programs, VIP events and other initiatives designed to strengthen relationships with both new and established collectors. He also collaborated with artists, industry figures and collectors for more than 15 editions of the most important annual gathering for collectors of popular culture, San Diego Comic-Con.
Since 2016, Dicken has also worked as an independent art auction consultant, providing authentication information and expertise to major auction houses and independent appraisers, including Heritage Auctions.
Dickens connection to film and animation began well before his professional career. Growing up working in his familys video-store business, he developed an early fascination with movies and animated storytelling. After studying business administration and management at San Diego State University, he turned that interest into a career that has spanned much of the modern animation-art market.
As Consignment Director of Animation and Anime, Dicken will work closely with collectors and consignors to source significant material for Heritages auctions while helping expand the companys presence throughout the animation and anime collecting communities.
Ive been fortunate to spend my career surrounded by artwork, stories and people I genuinely care about, Dicken says. Heritage has done extraordinary things for animation art, bringing important material to collectors around the world and helping the market reach an entirely new level. Im excited to join Jim Lentz and the Heritage team and to put the relationships and knowledge Ive built over the last 34 years to work for our collectors and consignors.
