BRUSSELS.- In order to enable as many people as possible to access its artistic offer, Bozar is further enhancing the accessibility of its programming. The institution offers relax tours, guided tours for deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors, and inclusive film screenings (with subtitles and audio description).
This offer, developed in collaboration with several partners, forms part of the CARE project: Transforming Mental Health Through Culture, co-funded by the European Union. Launched in November 2024, the CARE project has enabled more than 2,400 people to benefit from this tailored service at Bozar over the past two years.
For the first time, Bozar will also be organising on 9 December 2026 and 9 January 2027 low-stimulus tours of the Jean Brusselmans exhibition.
Bozar is a place for meeting and dialogue, open to everyone. With this in mind, we felt it was important to identify the specific needs of our audiences in order to offer them accessible, tailor-made experiences, explains Christophe Slagmuylder, CEO and Artistic Director of Bozar. To develop this inclusive programme, our audience outreach team, supported by the European CARE project, has teamed up with various experienced partners. We are delighted that low-stimulus visits now form part of Bozars programme.
An expanded, bespoke programme
On 9 December 2026 and 9 January 2027, low-stimulus tours and inclusive film screenings complement Bozars cultural outreach programme, which has for several years now offered relax tours and guided tours for deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors.
Recently, Bozar has also partnered with the Association Alzheimer Belgique to offer specially tailored tours* to people living with that condition and their carers.
Low-stimulus visits
On 9 December 2026 and 9 January 2027, low-stimulus visits will be organised as part of the Jean Brusselmans exhibition. During these visits, Bozar welcomes visitors into a calm, comfortable setting adapted to their needs. Cosy corners with cushions will be available on the exhibition tour. Group tours will also be suspended, and noise-cancelling headphones and sensory-filtering glasses will be provided so that visitors can explore the exhibition in peace.
Inclusive film screenings
On Sunday 8 November (at 11.00), as part of Bozar Sunday, an inclusive film screening is being organised in collaboration with the association La Perche (Screenings and Meetings for Film Lovers with Disabilities or Other Barriers),
The aim is simple: to enable as many people as possible to go to the cinema.
These screenings, featuring Phuong Mai Nguyens film In Waves, are specially adapted to meet the needs of all film lovers:
Film accessible with audio description (via the La Bavarde app)
Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
Adjusted sound level (reduced volume)
Soft lighting in the cinema (night-light atmosphere)
2 seats for people with reduced mobility
Welcome by a team of volunteers
Relaxation area
Two additional screenings are scheduled for Sundays 15 and 22 November (11.00 am).
*These screenings have received support from the Lambert-Lenoir Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.
