NEW YORK.- SOFA NEW YORK 2007, the 10th Annual International Exposition of Sculpture Objects & Functional Art, will present cutting-edge post-craft art including conceptual art jewelry from around the world at the Park Avenue Armory, on Park Ave. at 67th Street, from June 1 -3. Conceptual jewelry must be evaluated, like fine art, for its ideas, inventions, intuitions, and content rather than for its precious materials or conformity to tradition.
Of the 58 galleries and dealers participating in SOFA NEW YORK 2007, jewelry will be represented by over a dozen exhibitors, including: Ornamentum, Hudson, NY., Sienna Gallery, Lenox, MA., Jewelersâ Werk Galerie, Washington, DC., Charon Kransen Arts, NY., Aaron Faber Gallery, NY., The David Collection, Pound Ridge, NY., and Clare Beck at Adrian Sassoon, London. Key jewelers will speak in the SOFA NEW YORK Lecture Series, free with admission.
