BOGOTA, COLOMBIA.- The Cultural Institute of Peru, the Ministry of Culture through the Museo Nacional de Colombia, and the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and Hiustory present Sipán, the Last Treasure of America, on view through August 31, 2007. The exhibition features the funerary items for the Lord of Sipán, the highest authority of the Mochica civilization, which bloomed in the north coast of Peru between the 1st and 6th centuries AD.
The exhibition includes 132 pieces of gold, silver, turqoise, and ceramics, a reflection of the riches and sophistication of the Mochica rulers and the technological progress.
The exhibition is part of the international program at the museum which will bring material testimonies of universal culture. The exhibition is part of the archeology cycles that has exposed the country to the most amazing findings of the 20th Century: Egypt and the Terracota Warriors.
