Annual Children's Gallery Exhibit at Michener Art Museum |

DOYLESTOWN, PA.- The James A. Michener Art Museum presents its largest volume of works ever exhibited in the Children’s Gallery during the 16th annual June Balloon. This display of art by young people ages 2 through 18 features work created in the Museum’s art classes and the Art on the Move program. June Balloon also includes works by students involved in the Arts Enrichment programs at Pine Run Elementary School in New Britain , Pennsylvania and Walt Disney Elementary School in Levittown , Pennsylvania . June Balloon is on view in the Children’s Gallery at the Museum’s Doylestown location from June 3 through June 24, 2007.
“Through our programs, students are developing a strong connection to creativity, imagination and knowledge,” explains Ruth Anderson, the Museum’s Assistant Curator of Education. “Among these student artists are the Bucks County adult artists of the future.”
The Museum welcomes the public for a celebration of Bucks County ’s youngest artists at the June Balloon opening reception on Sunday, June 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The free event includes refreshments, entertainment and art activities for the whole family.
With over 300 two and three-dimensional works of art, the exhibit features a book of “Letters to Rwanda ,” as well as art-inspired research projects and altered portraits of James Michener. In conjunction with a poet in residence program coordinated by the Museum, a book of 570 poems written by students at Palisades Middle School in Kintnersville , Pennsylvania is a highlight of the exhibit.
The Children’s Gallery presents June Balloon through the support of Burton and Mindy Cohen, Fred Beans Family of Dealerships, The Marshall Family Charitable Fund and The Sigety Family Foundation. Additional support is provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
