BERLIN, GERMANY.-Since 1997, the Rencontres Internationales have been presenting in Paris and Berlin an international program between new cinema and contemporary art. The Rencontres Internationales are today a European cultural event of first scale.

After Paris in November 2006 at the Centre Pompidou and the national museum of the Jeu de Paume, and after Madrid at the Circulo de Bellas Artes, the Rencontres Internationales will take place in Berlin from 25th to 30th June 2007, and will create during 5 days a space of discovery and reflection between new cinema and contemporary art, at the Babylon Mitte movie theatre.

With the participation of about hundred artists and filmmakers from all-over the world, this exceptional edition will propose a program, which is presented for the first time internationally and which includes many film premieres, a panorama of contemporary video, multimedia concerts. Furthermore, the festival's program can be viewed and reviewed in the video library.

The Rencontres Internationales hope to bring these contemporary works to a wide audience, to create a crossing space for different art practices and to make their audiences communicate, to create dynamic exchanges between artists, filmmakers, and those participating in artistic and cultural life. The dimension of exchange between Paris, Berlin and Madrid will be particularly present in the programming, also via the debates.

This year's program, which is particularly rich and dense, has been selected out of 5200 projects received, as well as by invitations made to certain artists and filmmakers. This program is the result of an elaborated international search of works of art: 200 works from Germany, France, Spain and 60 other countries, bringing together internationally-known artists and filmmakers with young artists and filmmakers, whose works will be presented for the first time in Berlin.
