LONDON.- Gasworks is currently featuring an exhibition of Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, on view through July 22. To mark the closing of her first solo exhibition in London, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye will discuss the exhibition and her practice with critic Marcus Verhagen. This informal event will give visitors the opportunity to discover more about Yiadom-Boakye's studio practice and how she developed this recent body of work for Gasworks.
Lynette Yiadom-Boakye's recent exhibitions have included Series a solo exhibition at Arquebuse, Switzerland, 2007; The Unhomely: Phantom Scenes in Global Society, 2nd Seville Biennial, 2006; Liquid, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and Gary Hume, Royal Academy Schools Gallery, London, 2006. Her work has been collected by the Kunsthalle Mannheim and she has received a Decibel award for Visual Arts in 2006.
Marcus Verhagen regularly writes in Art Monthly, Frieze and Modern Painters. He is a visiting lecturer at Chelsea College of Art and Design, Ruskin School of Art and Sotheby's Institute.
