27th Annual Fall Auction at the San Jose ICA

SAN JOSE, CA.- On Saturday, October 27, 2007, the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art ( ICA ) will hold its annual signature event, the 27th Fall Benefit Auction. This comprehensive exhibition culminates in a live auction of spirited bidding for more than 150 art works by some of the hottest artists in the Bay Area. A not-to-be-missed evening in the South Bay, the ICA’s auction provides an opportunity to purchase the freshest work of both established and emerging talent, while supporting the ICA’s innovative exhibitions and educational programming.

From painting to photography, installation to sculpture, the artists’ contributions reflect the scope of the Bay Area’s vibrant and eclectic styles and interests. Some of the artists include recognized names, such as Manuel Neri, Hung Liu and Gustavo Ramos Rivera. While several of the artists may not be familiar names, the work represents the most promising new artistic talent in the area. This festive event is a must for art-lovers and collectors looking for what is up-and-coming. This show will be on view from Saturday, October 6th until the night of the auction, Saturday, October 27.

The doors open at 6:00 pm on auction night and the live auction begins at 7:00 pm. To accompany an evening of lively and competitive bidding, there will be champagne and savory hors d’oeuvres donated by some of the South Bay ’s finest restauraunts. Auction tickets are $40 for ICA members and $50 for non-members. A 20 percent discount applies on tickets purchased before October 27. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the ICA ’s ongoing exhibitions and educational programming. Call 408.283.8155 for reservations.
