BETHLEHEM, PA.-“The Mystical Mechanical Universe,” new works by Dominican-born painter and printmaker Rigo Peralta will be on view Wednesday. September 19, to Saturday, October 20 2007, Ambre’ Studio, Bethlehem, PA.
Peralta, noted for richly charged rhythmic compositions and heated palette, works mixed media on canvas, steeping multi-cultural references and symbolic imagery to represent the psychological, the spiritual, and the human condition in a provocative, ever changing world of machines, politics, technology and survival.
In 2003, Peralta became the first Dominican artist invited by the president of the United States to visit the White House. Solo exhibitions of his work have included Galaxy D’art, New York City; Trenton City Ellarslie Museum, NJ; Casa de La Cultural Dominicana, New York City; Boricua College Gallery, Braham Center Brooklyn, NY; Museum Candido Bido; Dominican Republic, among other solo and group exhibits.
Peralta is also a master printmaker, working in various print mediums including silk aquatints. Currently, Peralta’s studio is located at the Banana Factory, Bethlehem, PA. When not busy creating works for upcoming exhibitions, Peralta teaches printmaking.
A meet the artist opening reception at Ambre’ Studio is slated Thursday, September 20, 6 to 9 p.m. A lecture and brunch with Rigo Peralta is scheduled at Ambre’ Studio Saturday, October 20, 12 noon. Reservations are required. Ambre’ Studio is located at 310 West Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA. For more information, contact gallery owner Evelyn Beckman. 610-974-8480, or visit www.ambrestudio.com.
