CANYON, TX.--- The Panhandle-Plains Invitational Western Art Show and Sale provides a museum-quality venue for art collectors looking to buy pieces from contemporary Western artists. Items will be on sale March 1 and through March 30, 2008.
More than fifty artists from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, California and Oklahoma have been invited to the exhibition. Artists who have exhibited in the past include Emilio Caballero, Barry Jones, Don Ray, Jack Sorenson, Amy Winton, Jim Ward, and Marilyn Yanke, from the Panhandle area, and Curtis Fort, Walt Gonske, Mimi Litschauer, Deborah Paris, Greg Skol, and Curt Walters from outside Texas.
Proceeds from the Invitational are used to enhance PPHM’s art collection and bring the finest in historic Southwestern art to the region.
The Museum has a history of hosting then-contemporary Southwestern artists, beginning with the Coppini Academy of San Antonio's annual exhibitions in the 1950s through the Amarillo Rotary Club exhibitions in the early 1990s. Moreover, inviting accomplished, skillful, and sought-after artists to the Panhandle-Plains Invitational will complement the museum’s outstanding historic Southwestern art collection. Consequently, the Invitational is curated like any other museum exhibition and only the highest-quality works will be shown.
