WEST PALM BEACH, FL.-palmbeach3 | contemporary art fair will open its 11th season with a private Preview Evening on January 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida is the charity partner for the ticketed event. More than 1,500 collectors, art professionals and community leaders are expected to attend and will have the first opportunity to preview and purchase a compelling array of contemporary and modern paintings, photography, video, sculptures, functional objects and design presented by more than 95 prestigious galleries from 15 countries around the world.

“The opening night party is always exciting, and sets the stage for the rest of the Fair,” said director, Fran Kaufman. “We’re anticipating that a number of collectors will fly into Palm Beach from around the world to get the first look at what promises to be our best Fair yet.”

The four-day event, which is open to the public January 11 through 14, will also have several other charity partners this year. On Sunday, The Christopher Ricardo Cystic Fibrosis Foundation based in Aventura will host a book signing by noted photographer Frank Dituri, featuring his new monograph, “Blue Bird.” All proceeds from book sales will benefit the Foundation, and 15 percent of the sales of Dituri’s photographs (available at Stephen Rosenberg Fine Art) on that day will also go to the charity. Also on Sunday, partial Fair admission proceeds will benefit the School of the Arts Foundation, which supports the Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. School of the Arts, a long-time affiliate of palmbeach3 – and recently ranked 25th in America’s Best High Schools by US News & World Report.

“Although palmbeach3 only occurs once a year, we want to support organizations that make a difference in the community on a daily basis,” adds Kaufman.

palmbeach3 2008 will offer several special exhibitions, including an exclusive preview of the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art’s upcoming show, Unbroken Ties: Dialogues in Cuban Art; a special photography exhibition presented by the Aperture Foundation of New York; a “throne room” created by noted interior designer Thomas Jayne; and a Video Room curated by contemporary art collectors Elayne and Marvin Mordes. Fair hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission prices range from $15 for a one-day pass to $30 for a multi-day pass that includes a catalog.
