Hello World! An Exhibition by Rob Bailey

MANCHESTER, UK.-As the 21st Century marches incessantly on, Common, a little bar in Manchester's Northern Quarter, is once again handed bravely over to be used as not just the gallery space, but as the canvas itself.

As the man "behind the scenes" for nearly 3 years at our monthly night 'Licktronica', you might not recognise Rob Bailey's name but the same cannot be said of his posters that are becoming more famous than the night itself. But Rob isn't just another flyer designer: his slot and click approach to arranging shapes and colours makes for artwork that is simple and bold, yet visually stunning and always with a sense of humour; there really is no-one else quite like him in Manchester.

Rob was deservedly shortlisted in Urbis' 2007 'Best Of Manchester' awards with his Licktronica posters which must be fast becoming collectors items if their blatant theft from walls around Manchester faster than we can put them up is anything to go by.

So where else but at Common should Rob finally be given (and of course give us) an invitation to explore his world beyond the usual confines of an A3 piece of paper.

'Hello World!' is Rob's first exhibition: a walkthrough encyclopaedia affair of paint, digital wallpaper, dinosaur bones and limited edition prints. Marvel at the slices of Earth exhibit, tread carefully under the terrifying Jurassic archway and gaze through the many 'Windows To The World' (with the opportunity to even take your favourite view home with you).

A spectacle of World's Fair proportions? Nearly (if only we had the space and time). Our best exhibition yet? Possibly.
