Christie's International Appoints Amalia Wirjono as Christie's Representative in Indonesia

HONG KONG.- Christie’s International, the world’s leading art business, announced today the appointment of Amalia Wirjono as Christie’s representative in Indonesia. In this role, Ms. Wirjono will be responsible for business and client development and the further strengthening of Christie’s presence and brand in Indonesia, one of the major markets for Christie’s in Asia. Ms. Wirjono will report to Su-Mei Thompson, Senior Vice President, Director of Strategic Business Development, Christie’s Asia.

“I am delighted to welcome Amalia to the Christie’s team,” said Ms Thompson. “As our business in Asia continues to expand, it is more important than ever for Christie’s to have a strong team of regional representatives in place. Amalia is a well-respected member of the arts community in Indonesia and she brings an impressive range of client-facing and management experience to her new position. I look forward to working with Amalia as we continue to develop our business and client relationships in this important market.”

Ms. Wirjono joins Christie’s from Koi, the well-known Jakarta gallery and restaurant which she founded in 1991. Under her leadership, Koi has expanded to three locations and includes a successful catering and event planning business. Ms. Wirjono sits on the board of trustees of the prestigious Kelola Foundation, a non-profit organisation which supports the growth of the arts in Indonesia. She is also the Programme Head for the Indonesian Art Foundation which organises national and international exhibitions, educational initiatives and awards to promote and enhance public appreciation of the visual arts, a position she has held since 1996.

Ms. Wirjono holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Menlo College in California.
