SAG HARBOR, NY.- Critically acclaimed modern landscape artist Michelle Suna will open her one-woman art show at The Gallery Sag Harbor in the Hamptons from July 5th through 27th. Her opening champagne buffet reception will be held on July 5th, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Michelle Suna, who has been painting for close to three decades, drew national attention when her large work, "Incoming Storm Over Sag Pond" was displayed on the big screen in Will Smith's 2005 movie, "Hitch". Her "Verdant Poppy Field" oil on canvas, was sold at Christie's benefit dinner and auction for Tsunami Relief and was chosen by the curator for the event's image. Suna's works have been exhibited in galleries both in New York City and the Hamptons . Private collectors include Eric Clapton, Claudio Casiraghi, Dieter Dierks, Ray Elvin, Corina Forstmann, and NBC's Mike Taibbi.

Suna's magisterial landscape paintings surrounded by bold, beautiful colors are a celebration of the environment. Fascinated by nature's pristine forms, she brings us her very personal view of it, which has been described as "abstract reality." "My works have always been about taking risks and exploration, in and around my collective expressions," says Suna. The contemporay paintings explore a visceral sanctuary that is felt by the observer upon viewing these magnificent, serene works. They are an amalgam of color, texture and movement achieved through application of oil to canvas, all applied by brush. The results are thought and emotion provoking images that convey the conviction of the artist. Viewers often find themselves mesmerized in front of Suna's canvases. People are drawn by the expressive colors and forms that have become her signature. Guided by her innate and direct aesthetic sense, she consistently explores color, light and form in a unique and courageous manner that produces a sublime integration of abstracted reality.

Michelle Suna studied art and communications at Syracuse University, interior design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked for world renowned architect Richard Meier. She was embraced by the rarefied light and the clean forms. Add to that the inspiring associates including Frank Stella. Later, she worked for the legendary nightclub impresarios Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, as their director of private events, which found the young artist among another embrace of influential talents: Warhol, Isozaki, Clemente, Basquiat, Putman, Starke and Isabel.

Her passion for life and her surroundings, coupled with her extensive world travel as well as her participation in professional offshore yacht racing, offered Suna the opportunity to paint such places as France, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland among many others. She says living in Sag Harbor, Long Island is profound content for her inspiration. "Sag Harbor has by far been the nearest to my dearest La Trinite Sur Mer, Brittany," she says. "The maritime environment, the historical hamlets and the unique social worlds, have had a similar inspiration amid the conifer strewn granite coasts and menhir laden fields."

For over ten years, Ms. Suna has been living and working on the East End of Long Island with her beloved Wheaton Terriers, whom she rescued. Aware of preserving the environment, she is always planting a new tree in her garden filled with lush evergreens and exotic perrennials that overlooks the sunset upon the shore. Her involvement in charities include donating paintings to FACES (Find a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures), the Childrens's Tumor Foundation, Edwin Gould Child & Family Services, Amaryllis Farm Equine Rescue, The Retreat (helps victims of domestic violence) and The Hamptons International Film Festival in which her brother, Stuart Match Suna, is Chairman of the Board.
