London Museums Hub Appoints Programme Manager for 2012

LONDON.-The London Hub plans for the Cultural Olympiad have taken another step forward with the appointment of Dr. Carol Scott as Programme Manager for 2012.

Dr. Scott evaluated the impact of the 2000 Games on museums in Sydney. She has a strong background in audience development through her role as Evaluation and Audience Research Manager at the Powerhouse Museum and, as a Past President of Museums Australia, brings a wide knowledge of the issues facing museums at both national and local level. She spent ten years working with indigenous communities in Western and Central Australia, has taught literacy to new migrants and has a background in community arts which included time at the Australia Council for the Arts.

Dr. Scott will work from the Hub, focusing on the contribution of London’s 250 non-national museums to the Cultural Olympiad and 2012. Dr. Scott believes that ‘The distributed nature of the non-national collections, different levels of funding and the need to develop a partnership programme integrating capacity building and a long- term legacy are all challenges which we can turn into opportunities. 2012 gives a useful focus to our planning and encourages us to trial innovative ways of working that can lead to future sustainability across the non-national museums’ sector in London’.
