BEIJING.- The Cervantes Institute in Beijing recently inaugurated the photographic exhibition titled Stars of Spanish Sports on Stage, a retrospective that includes the most recent Spanish sporting events through the images taken by photographers who work for news agency EFE.

The 84 photographs on view narrate the triumphs of Spanish sport stars from Barcelona 1992 through the last goal made by Fernando Torres at the Euro cup this year.

"We present the exhibition because of the Olympic theme and with the coincidence that Spain won Euro 2008, said Xinhua Inma González, executive director of the Cervantes Institute.

These are photographs taken by EFE photojournalists who have followed the steps taken throughout the world by the stars of Spanish sport, such as Formula One racer Fernando Alonso, soccer placer Raul Gonzalez, tennis placer Rafael Nadal and other important Spanish athletes.

The project was born from an agreement that the Cervantes Institute and EFE signed with the purpose of exhibiting photographs made by EFE photojournalists

The exhibition will remain open until October 5
