New Trustee Appointed to Wexner Center Foundation Board

COLUMBUS, OH.- At its meeting on May 20, 2008, the Wexner Center Foundation board appointed a new trustee: Carl L. English of American Electric Power.

As Chief Operating Officer for AEP, English is responsible for all of the company’s utility business operations. Prior to his current position, English was president of AEP Utilities, responsible for AEP’s commercial operations that served more than 5 million customers in 11 states. He has been with AEP since 2004.

AEP is a major funder (with a gift of $100,000) for the exhibition Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms, on view at the Wexner Center this fall.

A native of Jackson, Ohio, English has been extremely active in the community throughout his career. He serves on the boards of the United States Energy Association, Directions for Youth & Families, New Albany Foundation, and CompeteColumbus. He also serves on the Columbus Downtown Housing Investment Funds Board. English earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1968 and a master’s degree in business administration in 1969, both from Michigan State University. English and his wife, Linda, and two children live in New Albany.

Notes Leslie H. Wexner, chair of the Wexner Center Foundation board of trustees, “An active member of the business, energy, and arts communities, Carl is committed to enhancing the vitality of Columbus, and recognizes as well that the arts center raises the regional, national, and international profile of the city. We’re delighted to welcome him to the table.”

The Wexner Center Foundation is a private, nonprofit partner of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees established for the overall purpose of advancing the interests of the Wexner Center for the Arts. Its primary role is to provide trustee guidance and sustained support for Wexner Center programming. The complete board list follows.
