NBC 10 Presents: 'Threads of Life' Monday, September 22nd, 7PM

BALA CYNWYD, PA.- Turn to NBC 10 on Monday, September 22nd, at 7PM, for "Threads of Life." This program features a group of women from a very small town in Alabama called Gees Bend. Their craft is quilt making, which was once created out of necessity for warmth, and is now being admired as an art form in museums around the country. NBC 10 and the Philadelphia Museum of Art collaborated on this enlightening half-hour show, hosted by NBC 10 News Anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah.

"Threads of Life" will showcase more than 70 quilts, from the early twentieth century through 2005 crafted by the women of Gees Bend. This spirited special will focus on quilting as it relates to storytelling and how the art form has generated interest in the town's younger residents.

Included in this program is the renowned "Quilt Stories: The Ella King Torrey Collection of African Quilts," which is currently on exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Perelman Galleries.

Follow the women of Gees Bend as they share their talent in "Threads of Life" on Monday, September 22nd, at 7PM. For more information, visit NBC 10's website at http://www.nbc10.com.
