OTTAWA.- Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will attend the 10th Anniversary RBC Painting Competition Gala on Thursday, September 25, 2008, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.

During the ceremony, the Governor General and the President and CEO of RBC, Mr. Gordon M. Nixon, will announce the national award winner as well as the two artists who will receive honorable mentions. The work of all 15 national finalists will be on display at the National Gallery of Canada.

The Governor General will also meet privately with the artists at Rideau Hall, the following day.
