LACMA Announces the Appointment of Three New Trustees to its Board

LOS ANGELES.- The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announced the election of three new members to its Board of Trustees: Brigitte Bren, an attorney and co-founder of International Strategic Planning, Inc.; Eva Chow, renowned fashion designer and partner with her husband Michael Chow in the Mr. Chow restaurants; and Suzanne Kayne, a prominent realtor and philanthropist. Additionally, Dona Kendall has been appointed to Life Trustee.

“It’s fitting that the museum’s leadership ranks expand as both its gallery space and collections grow,” said LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director Michael Govan. “Such growth wouldn’t be possible without longtime supporters like Dona Kendall. It’s a great pleasure to honor her in the role of Life Trustee and to also welcome our new trustees.”

LACMA board chair Andy Gordon noted, “Brigitte Bren, Eva Chow, and Suzanne Kayne bring an added enthusiasm to our board. I am confident that their leadership will help propel us forward in the museum’s Transformation.”

Brigitte Bren
Brigitte Bren is an attorney and co-founder of International Strategic Planning, Inc., a business consulting firm. She has served as “of Counsel” to the law firm of Arter & Hadden, with an area of emphasis in International Affairs and Entertainment Law, and was Vice President of International Marketing at Mark Goodson Productions. A graduate of Loyola Law School and the College of Honors at the University of California, Los Angeles, Ms. Bren is a Director and Chair of the Governance Committee of Ambassadors Group, Inc., and a Director and member of the Audit Committee of Ambassadors International, Inc. Ms. Bren is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. She has served on the Board of Trustees of the Hoover Institute at Stanford University and on the Advisory Committee of the Los Angeles Universal Preschool Master Plan. Ms. Bren is married to LACMA Trustee Donald L. Bren, who has served on the board since 1986.

Eva Chow
Eva Chow is a fashion designer and member of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), whose collection earned international success, selling to renowned department stores and specialty boutiques around the world. Her designs have appeared in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and Women's Wear Daily, have been photographed by eminent photographers, and have been worn by numerous celebrities. Currently she works with her husband Michael Chow, a designer and restaurateur, in opening Mr. Chow restaurants around the world. Mr. and Mrs. Chow collect art deco and contemporary and modern art.

Suzanne Kayne
Suzanne Kayne is the President of the Kayne Foundation, which gives to mental health causes, education, arts, and the community. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained her California teaching credential at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has enjoyed a lengthy real estate career and is currently a successful sales agent with Westside Estate Agency of Beverly Hills. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Kayne Eras Center (KEC), an educational resource center for developmentally
challenged youth, which recently merged with the Exceptional Children’s Foundation of Los Angeles, as well as the Council of the Children’s Burn Foundation and Blue Ribbon of the Los Angeles Music Center. She and her husband, Richard Kayne, Chief Executive Officer of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, are photography collectors and active LACMA supporters since 1984, formerly participating in the museum as members of the Art of the Middle East Council, Costume Council, and Collectors Committee. Mrs. Kayne has also been on LACMA’s Prints and Drawings Council since its inception.

Dona Kendall
Dona Kendall, a longtime supporter of the museum, is an active member of the Los Angeles cultural community. In addition to LACMA’s board, which she joined in 1983, Mrs. Kendall has served as an Honorary President of the Board of the Blue Ribbon of the Music Center, the Diadems, the Joffrey Ballet, and is a trustee of both the Archives of American Art and the National Board of the Smithsonian Institution. Mrs. Kendall and her late husband Dwight, a retired real estate investor and developer, made the lead gift in Phase I of LACMA’s Transformation campaign. Their generosity is recognized in the Dona S. and Dwight M. Kendall Concourse, the covered walkway linking the western and eastern sections of the LACMA campus.

Cycling off the board are Michael Lynton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Pictures, and James A. Thomas, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Thomas Properties Group.
