MADRID.- This first retrospective exhibition on the photographic work of Zoe Leonard features a distinctive selection of images taken by the New York artist from the 1970s to the present day. Organised by the
Photomuseum Winterthur (Switzerland), the exhibit at the
Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía presents approximately one hundred and sixty photographs that reveal the artists interest in everyday contrasts nature vs. the city and the manufactured vs. the original and how she views photography as an approximation to the documentary. Beyond all artistic approaches, Leonards creative process (in black-and-white, without touch-ups, copies in different sizes and kinds of paper, etc.) eschews imagination in favour of observation.
