FORT WORTH, TX.- The Amon Carter Museum has recently reframed their masterpiece Boston Harbor of 1856 by Fitz Henry Lane in a period frame from Eli Wilner & Company. The frame original to the painting was no longer on the painting when it entered the collection in 1977 and the existing frame did not do justice to Lane's evocative panorama. The frame selected is an American frame from the 1850's, with a sanded cove accented with delicate ornament near the top rail that echoes and enhance the precise, faithful detail of the composition. The soft gold of the surface, along with the fine sand texture of the cove serve to reinforce the sense of light and stillness so sensitively depicted by the artist.
