FARGO, ND.- In honor of Youth Art Month in March,
Plains Art Museum presents School Spirit: Celebrating Youth Art Month, an exhibition which celebrates local young artists from the region. Student artwork from 37 area schools in Minnesota and North Dakota is presented in the exhibition. An artists’ reception for the students and their friends and family will be held 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 8 in the Museum’s Studio 3. The reception features music by Moorhead , Minnesota ’s Horizon Middle School String Quartet, art-making activities and light refreshments. The exhibition opens February 26 and runs through March 29.
Participating schools in Fargo are Clara Barton, Kennedy, Discovery, Lincoln, Washington, Horace Mann and Roosevelt Elementary Schools; Ben Franklin, Carl Ben Eielson and Discovery Middle Schools; and Fargo North, South and Shanley High Schools and Fargo South Campus II.
West Fargo schools are L.E. Berger, Eastwood, South, Harwood, Horace and Aurora Elementary Schools and West Fargo High School .
Other North Dakota Schools are Northern Cass and Grand Forks Central High Schools and Washington Elementary in Valley City .
Schools in Moorhead are Ellen Hopkins, Robert Asp and S.G. Reinertsen Elementary Schools ; Horizon Middle School ; Moorhead High School ; and Youth Educational Services.
Other Minnesota schools are Ada-Borup High School , Barnesville High School , Detroit Lakes Middle School , Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Schools , Pelican Rapids High School , Viking Elementary in Pelican Rapids and Waubon and Ogema in the White Earth School District .
Youth Art Month is a national observance, which emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages support for quality school art programs. More than 9,000 students tour the Museum every year.
