Saint Louis Art Museum Announces "The Big Event for Teachers"
SAINT LOUIS, MO.-
The
Saint Louis Art Museum will host "The Big Event for Teachers," its annual free day of professional development for teachers of all subjects, on March 2. Teachers of elementary school through high school students are encouraged to attend; college and university professors may also attend.
The event offers two sessions of four different workshops from 2 p.m.–4 p.m. and from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. A two-hour Open House Reception will be held between the workshop sessions from 4 p.m.–6 p.m. During the reception, attendees can tour the Museum's featured exhibition Power and Glory: Court Arts of China's Ming Dynasty with Philip Hu, associate curator of Asian art. Refreshments will be provided while teachers network with fellow educators and learn how to incorporate art-making activities into their classroom lessons.
"The afternoon features gallery tours, interdisciplinary workshops and art-making activities geared towards encouraging teachers to use the Museum as a resource for their classes," said Bill Appleton, assistant director of public programs and education. "The Event usually highlights special exhibitions showcased in the Museum's Main Exhibition Galleries and seeks to make connections between these exhibitions and the larger Museum collection."
