Three Balboa Park Museums Announce Reduced Admission

SAN DIEGO.- Three Balboa Park museums – Mingei International Museum, the Museum of Man and the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) – today announced a three-month reduced admission program. From March 1 through May 25, 2009 (Memorial Day), the three museums will offer half-price admission on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon.

The museums, all located on El Prado, are offering reduced admission as a way of providing more affordable visitor opportunities during the current economic downturn. Museum officials at all three museums are highlighting the importance of making rewarding arts and culture experiences available to all residents of the San Diego region and beyond.

Current featured exhibitions at Mingei International Museum are India Adorned, Shibui – The Subtle Beauty of Japanese Craft and opening March 29, Masters of Mid-Century Modernism: Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman. Current featured exhibitions at the Museum of Man are Skull Stories: The Art of Ancient Surgery, Gods & Gold: Ancient Treasures from Mexico to Peru, opening February 28, Mosaic Art International 2009 Exhibition and opening May 23, The Art of Andean Retablos: Religion, Tradition, and Social Commentary.
