BROOKLYN, NY.- Cameo Art Gallery Presents Ben Bronfman, Carrie Elston, Lukas James, Ivana Salander, on view through March 12 and curated by Sean Neal. Cameo Art Gallery Presents is the debut show of this new Williamsburg multi-use space. Featuring four artists and a rotating roster of musicians, Cameo seeks to articulate the intersection of art, music, food, and company by bringing together a multitude of people and genres into one space. Untainted by the past eight years, this space houses a fiery celebration of where we are now and the many possibilities that are opening up in this new age. The white cube is out, and the black cube is in. How fitting that as we are trying to redefine ourselves as a country and time we are also redefining the making of art and its necessary viewing.

All four artists in this show work in bold, fluorescent colors that demand attention, and flout their sex appeal. Ivana Salander taps into the flow, transferring raw energy into raw material in a controlled explosion of neon abstractions. Lukas James counters her structured abstraction with figurative images of women, ranging from an Edie Sedgwick clone to an Amish lady simultaneously sucking on a cigarette and drinking a glass of wine. Carrie Elston takes on the tradition of the canvas, but builds on top of her bright colors and aggressive brush strokes with impasto and pigment, creating a three-dimensional psychological world that sits brashly on top of the smooth surface. Floating above it all is a painting by Ben Bronfman, of a wizened old man undulating between flower petals that frame his face.

On the opening night of this lush-bomber show, viewers will see this art accompanied by the music of James Tunick. Tunick's computer music compositions are experiments in musical hybridity that are meant to inspire the listener to see the music as if the sounds are part of an immersive 3D space. This will be followed by a lively show by the New York based bands The London Souls and Daddy Long Legs.

Cameo Art Gallery has assembled a roster of spunky artists and soulful music that speaks directly to the fresh energy seen running through our culture today. It is as though they have captured the vibe on the street and put it into a black space. The result is something live and organic, that captures the Zeitgeist and lets it run free.
