Arkansas Arts Center Presents Warren MacKenzie: Legacy of An American Potter

LITTLE ROCK, AR.- The Arkansas Arts Center presents the exhibition Warren MacKenzie: Legacy of An American Potter, on view through May 17, 2009, in the Townsend Wolfe Gallery. This exhibition was organized by the Rochester Art Center, Rochester, Minnesota.

Comprised of approximately 250 works, this comprehensive retrospective presents seminal works produced by Warren MacKenzie over a 50-year period (1948 – 2006). Through various styles, forms and approaches to the art of clay, MacKenzie’s wheelthrown stoneware vessels embody not only the influence of ceramic artists Bernard Leach, Shoji Hamada and Soetsu Yanagi, but also his own unique vision.

Warren MacKenzie is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and currently resides in Minnesota. He has won numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minnesota Crafts Council and a Gold Medal from the American Crafts Council. His work is represented in the collections of the Metropolitan
