SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- The film chronicles 5 successful women artists, of all ages and backgrounds, as they make art and life in New York City.

Swoon, the youngest, exhibits cut-outs directly on city walls and subways, exuding boundless idealism and energy. Cairo-born Ghada Amer mixes media to confront sexual taboos that cross cultural boundaries. Kiki Smith creates wildly influential paintings and sculptures; Marina Abramovic is a performance art pioneer who often uses her own body as a canvas. And Nancy Spero melds art and activism to become, in her own words, “a woman warrior.”

Having grown up watching her father, Francisco Clemente, at work in his studios, Chiara Clemente lends her special knowledge of how artists work to this film. Perhaps it is that background, or maybe just her love for art, that enables her to create thorough portraits of these extraordinary woman, each at a different point in their career. From New Jersey to Cairo and back again, Clemente is privy to the creative process and everyday lives that have shaped the women into the artists they are today.
