Healing through Art - Local Artists to Show Work at Relay for Life

LAWRENCE, KS.- The Spencer Museum of Art Student Advisory Board will present art as a message of hope and perseverance at the KU Relay for Life on Friday, May 1. Work by local and area artists addressing themes of sickness and healing will be on display at the Board’s booth from 6 PM to 10 PM during the Relay event at Memorial Stadium.

Relay for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, which the University participates in annually. This year’s Relay event will take place from 6 PM on May 1 to 6 AM on May 2. Participants walk around the track to symbolize the daily struggle of those diagnosed with cancer. A luminary ceremony will be held in remembrance of cancer victims and survivors. Other events during the Relay include live music and games. The event is free and open to the public and those attending may come and go throughout the event’s 12-hour duration.
