NEW YORK, NY.- Deanna Lee has been appointed Vice President for Communications and Marketing at The New York Public Library. Ms. Lee comes to the Library from the Asia Society, where she was the Vice President for Communications. Previously she had an extensive career in broadcasting as a producer for ABC’s World News and Nightline. Ms. Lee will develop a strategy to communicate the mission, resources, and activities of the Library as it proceeds with new initiatives and faces unprecedented demand for its services in a rapidly changing economic climate. In her new capacity she will oversee the Library’s departments of Public Relations, Marketing, Graphics, and Publications.

“Deanna Lee brings a unique and vitally important set of skills to The New York Public Library as we move forward with dynamic changes and face new challenges,” said the Library’s President, Paul LeClerc. “Her broad and extensive background in communications and the innovative approaches she has developed harnessing new technologies to build an organization’s presence and visibility will be crucial to us at this important time in the life of the Library.” The New York Public Library recently announced a far-reaching transformation plan to better serve its users in a new era of information needs. She spearheaded the creation of original Asia Society print and digital content distributed through media partnerships around the world, with a focus on interactive and new media initiatives.

“I could not be more enthusiastic about joining The New York Public Library, an institution whose innovative programs and vast resources represent a whole new way of interacting with information,” said Ms. Lee.“Everything the Library stands for—open access to that information, the strength of communities, local as well as global leadership in learning—is of vital importance now more than ever.I look forward to expanding awareness of and excitement for all of the Library's dynamic initiatives.”
