INDIANAPOLIS, IN.- The Indianapolis Museum of Art announced that it has hired Katherine Campbell Nagler as manager of donor relations. In this role, Nagler will spearhead fundraising efforts for major IMA initiatives, including the Museum’s planned Conservation Science Laboratory and endowment support for Miller House and Garden in Columbus, Indiana, among others.

“Kathy brings to the Museum extensive leadership and a deep commitment to the arts, demonstrated by years of service within the central Indiana arts community, including previous experience at the IMA,” said Fred Duncan, director of development at the IMA. “We are pleased to welcome Kathy back to the IMA as a partner in the Museum’s major fundraising strategies. Her experience will help to position the IMA for positive growth and enhance its cultural offerings to the community.”

Nagler previously served as executive director for the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art from June 2006 to April 2009. Before joining iMOCA, Nagler served in various roles at the IMA. She served as guest curator for exhibitions including Vik Muniz (2003), Laylah Ali (2002), Lucinda Devlin (2002), By Mouth and Hand: Work by Ann Hamilton (2002), and Art for Today (2002). In 2004–05, Nagler led a capital campaign at the IMA that successfully raised the campaign goal of $225 million. She has also served on the IMA’s board of trustees.

“During my mother’s tenure as a docent, I became fascinated by the art at the IMA, and certainly my fifth-grade class visits to the Museum influenced my decision to study art history,” Nagler said. “As a parent, I brought my five sons to every IMA exhibition imaginable, making the museum an integral part of our lives. Now there is nothing more exciting to me than the leadership, innovation and growth at the IMA, and I am so thrilled to be a part of it.”

Nagler holds an M.A. in Art History from Indiana University and a B.A. in Art History from Brown University. She has been an art history instructor at Herron School of Art and Design, Wabash College, Butler University and Park Tudor School. She has served on the boards of numerous local civic organizations, including The Phoenix Theatre, Planned Parenthood of Central Indiana, International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, The Damien Center and WFYI. Nagler was project manager for the Indianapolis Audience Development Arts Project conducted by the Arts Council of Indianapolis in 2004–05.
