PARIS.- The 40th edition of Art Basel, the world!s largest contemporary art fair, will take place from June, 10 to June,14 2009 in Basel, Switzerland.

Annual rendezvous of the international art scene, the 2009 edition of Art Basel features about 300 dealers amongst the most influent galeries in the world.

The Design Miami / Basel section, created in 2005 by Ambra Medda, is today considered as one of the most prestigious, innovating design fairs on the international scene.

Dedicated to 20th century design, Design Miami/Basel 2009 extends its curatorial perspective by inviting the compelling reference of French 18th century design Perrin Antiquaires, to participate to its 4th edition from June, 9 to June, 13 2009 in Basel.

The sheerly exceptional character of this invitation to Basel sheds some light on the openness wanted by the organisers for the 2009 edition. Far from limiting itself to contemporary design, Design Miami/ Basel indugles in an incursion into 18th century French interior design.

Sole ambassador of the 18th century period at the fair, Galerie Perrin is doubtless the most relevant representative of this prestigious era of French design.

The presence of the gallery is atypical because of its speciality and its unicity. Its presence also reaffirms the indisputable links of continuity between the different eras of design. This invitation aims at celebrating and reappraising the savoir-faire and works of the past in order to integrate them in the landscape of contemporary design.

- Louis XIV & Maria Theresa of Austria as Ruggiero and Angelica (vers 1664)

- A pair of Japan lacquer cabinets on carved giltwood pedestals (second half of 17th century)

- Pair of mid-height bookcases featuring « flore » and « pomona » ( circa 1770)

Galerie Perrin!s ambition is to present a coherent stand, an architectured display in order to meet the demanding expectations of the visitors, whether they are art experts or art lovers.
