Biennale of Sydney Announces New Board Director Lucy Turnbull
Lucy Turnbull currently holds a number of leadership roles in both the business and community sectors.



SYDNEY.- ‘We are pleased to announce Lucy Turnbull as a Board Director of the Biennale of Sydney,’ said Chairman Luca Belgiorno-Nettis. ‘Lucy is a highly respected businesswoman with a wealth of experience across many diverse fields, including the non-profit sector. In addition, as a former Lord Mayor of Sydney , Lucy brings an intimate understanding of the city’s cultural and governance landscape. I’m sure that I speak for all the Board and staff in saying how delighted we are to welcome someone of Lucy’s calibre.’

Lucy Turnbull said: ‘I am delighted to be joining the Board of the Biennale of Sydney. I have a great interest in contemporary culture and firmly believe in the important role art plays in shaping our society. Along with my fellow Board Directors and Chief Executive Officer, Marah Braye , I look forward to helping guide the Biennale into the next successful phase of its development.’

Lucy Turnbull currently holds a number of leadership roles in both the business and community sectors, including: Board Director, Melbourne IT; Board Member, Redfern-Waterloo Authority; Chair, Salvation Army’s City of Sydney Red Shield Appeal; Deputy Chair, Committee for Sydney; Board Member, Centre for Independent Studies; Board Member, NSW Cancer Institute; Board Member, Redfern Foundation Limited; and Board Member, Turnbull Foundation.

Lucy Turnbull served as Sydney’s Lord Mayor (2003–04) and Deputy Lord Mayor (1999–2003). She was the first woman to hold both these positions. She also served as a Councillor on the City of Sydney Council from 1999–2004 and chaired many council initiatives, including the Central Sydney Planning Committee, the Planning, Transport and Development Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee. For many years Lucy Turnbull worked as a solicitor and investment banker.
