CINCINNATI, OH.- The Contemporary Arts Center announced that Chief Preparator and artist Joel Armor , along with CAC UnMuseum artist Pam Kravetz, are leading a group of teen apprentices in the ArtWorks 2009 Summer Program. Armor and Kravetz are the Project Managers of Rookwood Mosaic, a large-scale mosaic project which will be installed throughout the newly expanded wing of the Ronald McDonald House near Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

The CAC has a long history of partnership with ArtWorks, hosting their “interview day” in the museum each year. Raphaela Platow, Alice and Harris Weston Director and Chief Curator, says, “It’s no secret that the CAC is a big fan of ArtWorks. We all benefit from the incredible work they do. ArtWorks plays a vital role in this community. They provide an indispensable opportunity for local teens and artists, connecting them to community-building through public art. It’s a wonderful program, and one we are proud to be able to support in this way.” Platow goes on to state, “Joel has the dedication and talent to make a real difference in this community. We were happy to arrange it so that he could participate. Joel is a great artist and teacher, and we couldn’t imagine not supporting this endeavor.”

The CAC’s UnMuseum artists also feature prominently in this year’s ArtWorks projects. In addition to Kravetz, Christian Schmit is working with a group of teen apprentices to create a mural for ArtWorks’ MuralWorks project at the John R. Green Company, a school and teaching supply company in Covington ’s Mainstrasse.
