MALAGA.- The Picasso Museum in Malaga has informed that its Board of Trustees has appointed José Lebrero as its new artistic director. Mr. Lebrero will begin his duty in October. The position of artistic director was recently created. The Board of Trustees selected Mr. Lebrero after reviewing 21 candidates in an international search conducted by an evaluation committee of art experts.
The Picasso Museum in Malaga will now have and artistic director, José Lebrero, and an administrative director, Elisa Maldonado, who occupies this position since February of 2008.
The Museo Picasso Málaga is run by the Foundation Museo Picasso de Málaga and the Foundation Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso.
The Paul, Christine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso Foundation is the owner of the Collection, while the Museo Picasso de Málaga Foundation owns the museum buildings. Both entities undertake to ensure that the work of Picasso is conserved, exhibited, studied and circulated.
The Museo Picasso Málaga is run by an Executive Council comprising an equal number of members of the two Foundations.
