Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Names Carl Brown Interim Director
Carl Brown has been named as the Interim Director of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.



SANTA FE, NM.- The Board of Directors of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum today announced Carl Brown as the Interim Director of the organization. He will assume the position on August 1, 2009.

In addition to overseeing the finance and human resources departments, he will also manage the day-to-day operations of the Museum. Anne Marion, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, stated, “I am have every confidence in Carl, who is respected throughout the Museum and will do a fine job while the search for a new museum director proceeds.”

Mr. Brown’s new role comes after the resignation of George G. King, who will be leaving the Museum after 11 years of service to lead the New York City-based nonprofit American Federation of Arts. The Museum’s Board of Directors has launched a national search for a permanent director.

Joining the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in 2005 as Director of Finance and Human Resources, Mr. Brown received a New Mexico Business Weekly Top CFO Award in 2008. Prior to his tenure with the Museum, he served as the Vice President of Administration for Vallis Form Service in Chicago, Illinois and Vice President of Finance for Mosby Publishing in St. Louis, Missouri.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Emporia State University and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of the Georgia O’Keeffe Foundation, Mr. Brown has been active on various church committees and served in the United States Armed Services.
