IRVINGTON, NJ. Escape Long to Bleed was announced as the 1st place winner by artist Ron EA Powell. Art curator and judge Lidia Simeonova gain this review/critique of the 1st Place Winner: These paintings display the most success at various levels. This piece is a great example at once familiar yet mysterious, its technically well-executed and intellectually involving. Painterly qualities like strong lightening, tension and sensitive coloration combine with dramatic narrative and emotive qualities to produce a very strong and complete image.

Jury Review Online selected Escape Long to Bleed painting for the AD.C International Art Award 1st place winner by the artist Ron EA Powell (REAP).
Ron EA Powell mixes a variety of textures, techniques and styles in his haunting yet strangely tranquil paintings. The sensuous faces of his subjects are often framed by painterly brushwork and expressionist flourishes, but whatever amalgam of techniques he uses; Rons concern is always the emotional impact of his portraits. At times pensive, contemplative or unabashedly fervent, Rons subjects reveal themselves to us while remaining enigmatic. REAP (Ron EA Powell) was born in Newark, New Jersey. Of Jamaican heritage, Powell has visited this source of culture and family ties on several occasions, lending a Caribbean influence to his work. He majored in Fine Arts at New Jersey City University. Powell has also studied figure drawing at The Art Student League of New York, New York City, NY and now currently works at Tiffany & Co., as a Graphic Designer.
