LONG BEACH, CA.- The Museum of Latin American Art will host Auction 09, a significant auction of modern and contemporary Latin American art on October 17, 2009. The auction will feature more than 120 museum quality works of art including paintings, sculptures, works on paper and prints by renowned and emerging artists from Mexico, Central and South America and the Spanish speaking Caribbean.

The event will showcase works by some of the greatest artists in Latin America, such as Rufino Tamayo, Oswaldo Guayasamin and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Auction 09 is MOLAA’s premier fundraising event. All proceeds support the museum’s ongoing exhibitions and educational programs.

In recent years, Latin American Art has become highly regarded and sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts alike throughout the world. This is made evident by record breaking figures at international auction houses, for works by artists such as Rufino Tamayo and most recently, Diego Rivera. Prior to the auction on Saturday, October 17, MOLAA will showcase an Auction 09 Preview that will include a select group of works. It will be on display from August 5 – 23. All the auction works will be on view in the Auction 09 Exhibition from September 5 – October 16.

MOLAA’s Auction 09 is a $100 ticketed event and includes a cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music, entertainment and complimentary valet parking. The evening is comprised of both silent and live auctions.
