"Decades: Art of the 1960s Here & There" |

|
VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA.- The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria presents “Decades: Art of the 1960s Here & There in the Global Village”, on view through July 7, 2002. This is the third of our four part series Decades on the art of the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, profiling works from our permanent collection produced in each and decade and demonstrating the relationships between art, its time and history. This series includes cultural evenings that intervene with traditional views of history by presenting other art forms of the era. With this exhibition, we also acknowlege 50 years of incredible support from the Gallery’s Volunteer Committee. Over the years, numerous works of art were acquired with their assistance, including many in this exhibition. Founded by Miss Sarah Spencer six months after the opening of the Gallery on Moss Street, they were an important part of the Gallery’s early years and continue to support us today through their fundraising activities.
