LONDON.- Christie’s announced today the appointment of Lisa King as Chief Operating Officer and Group Managing Director of Christie’s International effective immediately. Ms. King, previously International Managing Director, Auction & Private Sales, assumes responsibility for the leadership and delivery of Christie’s International’s Business Plan. In this expanded role, she will oversee Auction & Private Sales, Strategy, Marketing, Business Development, Human Resources, Operations, IT, Finance, Legal and the Group’s Diversified Businesses including Christie’s Great Estates, Christie’s Fine Art Storage Services, Christie’s Insurance Services and Christie’s Education.

“As we continue to further align the management of the business with our global objectives – to lead in the international art market, lead the regional art market and grow our diversified businesses, Lisa King’s breadth of management experience, business acumen and strategic awareness position her perfectly for the COO role,” said Edward Dolman, Chief Executive Officer of Christie’s International.

Lisa King joined Christie’s in 1996, having been a lawyer and senior manager with three leading international law firms in the city over a 12 year period. Her last position was with Herbert Smith, where she was Head of Information and Education. Wishing to develop her love of the arts, Ms. King studied Fine and Decorative Arts at Christie’s Education for two years, after which she joined the company’s London headquarters as Special Projects Manager. In this capacity she managed some of Christie’s most successful sales including the sale of the Dundas Masterpieces in 1997, the sale of the contents of Hackwood Park and the Wentworth sale in 1998. In 1998, Lisa King was appointed Assistant Managing Director of Christie’s Europe, before being promoted to the role of Managing Director for Europe. In 2000, her responsibilities were extended to include the management of Auction & Private sales, Christie’s regional offices and client development and she was appointed International Managing Director, Auction & Private sales.
